Halloween is upon us, and whether you want to use it as inspiration for your next campaign, to engage with your customers, host a spooky office party, or just as a reason to eat all of the candy, carve all of the pumpkins, and watch all the Scream remakes, we’re here for you.
Grab the candy stash you’re supposed to be saving for trick-or-treaters and relax as we share some of our favorite Halloween ads with you. It’s going to be un-boo-lievable (we’re funnier IRL, promise).
1. Lux, “Save Your Skin”
So many horror movies have made it almost impossible to have a late night shower without worrying that an intruder is going to sneak into your home with a chainsaw. But no need to worry, LUX is here! Just set a trap with your bar of soap because after said intruder slips on it and falls down, they will stand up wounded and in shame, and completely forget about their quest to murder you.
2. Giffgaff, “The Music Box”
Giffgaff perfectly spoofs horror movie genres – there are zombies, a woman’s head on a plate, and a creepy bride – in this ad which compels customers to “end the nightmare” of two-year phone contracts. And we all know that a two-year-long phone contract is equally as frightening as being trapped in a never-ending nightmare. Is there anything scarier than not knowing what to do when the iPhone X infinity plus 3000 is released just three months into your 24-month contract?!
3. Kit Kat, “Chance the (W)rapper”
Chance the Rapper. A cute kid in a costume. A great pun. These were the ingredients chosen to create the perfect Halloween ad. And this time Professor Utonium did not mistakenly add an extra dash of Chemical X to the concoction.
4. Nike, “Run for Your Life”
Trying to shop but zombies have taken up refuge in your mall? Lace up your Nikes and run. Trying to rob a blind man who is actually a deranged lunatic? Slip into your Nikes and run. Trying to Netflix and chill but evil spirits are coming out of your television set? Nike and run. All the great horror movies we have come to know and love (and fear) will never have happened if someone had just had enough common sense to put on a pair of Nikes!
5. Svedka, “First World Horrors”
How can you be Instagram famous if you keep on getting name likes (a.k.a anything less than 11 likes)?!
How can you propose to the woman of your dreams in an embarrassing and very public way if she doesn’t reply your text?!
How can you take your 100th selfie of the day when your phone is out of space?! These are important questions!
Svedka tapped into the real fears that plague many millennials to create a series of ads called “First World Horrors.” Ain’t no horror like a first world horror.Ain't no horror like a first world horror. Click To Tweet
