Background 

To drive sales in it’s key demographic of Tennessee, Big Red partnered with 3tier logic to launch a summer accumulator gift with purchase promotion where a consumer was asked to purchase $30 worth of Big Red over 8 weeks for a limited edition prize. Big Red’s objective was to engage its consumers drive sales, and reward consumers for their purchase.

Strategy

To meet Big Red’s objective of increasing sales of Big Red products, 3 tier logic designed a gift with purchase promotion and a branded mobile-optimized microsite enabling consumers who made a qualifying purchase of Big Red products to submit an image of their receipt on on the microsite to receive a Limited Edition Big Red t-shirt.

Using bottle-neck hangers for in-store activation, and social media for online activation, consumers were made aware of the promotion at retailers such as Kroger and Dollar General, and on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, thus influencing their purchase decisions. After making a qualifying purchase, registering on the microsite, snapping and uploading a photo of their receipt, consumers were instantly entered into the promotion to receive a reward. PLATFORM³’s Optical character recognition receipt scanning license provided Big Red wth a way to engage consumers on their mobile device and gain shopper knowledge from receipt uploads.

Results

Over 350 consumers registered and uploaded their receipts on the microsite. The results of which were over $2,700 USD in sales and Kroger coming out on top as the top grossing retailer.
