MRI: Holiday Gift Catalogue

MRI - Holiday Gift Catalogue

MRI is an American marketing and advertising agency. MRI partnered with 3 tier logic to launch their national ‘Holiday Gift Catalogue’ SMS sweepstakes promotion, exclusive to consumers in the United States and participating retailers, which included Dick’s Sporting Goods, Pandora, Barnes & Noble, Victoria’s Secret, and H&M.

Program Objectives

  • Drive product purchasing

  • Improve brand engagement

  • Increase brand loyalty

  • Collect customer data

Strategy

3 tier logic used PLATFORM³ to create an SMS project for Slant Marketing’s ‘Holiday Gift Catalogue’ sweepstakes promotion, leveraging the following modules:

  • SMS Shortcode Phone Number

  • Purchase Receipt Validation

  • Data Capture & Analytics

When consumers purchase one qualifying product from participating retailers (e.g. Dick’s Sporting Goods, Pandora, Barnes & Noble, Victoria’s Secret, H&M, Calendar Club, and Sunglass Hut) at 1 of 74 participating malls across the United States, they are eligible to receive a sweepstakes entry for a chance to win a grand prize or 1 of 15 secondary prizes.

Consumers must first text the promotion keyword ‘GIFT’ to the shortcode 47056 in order to receive an SMS message instructing them to send a photo of their receipt. Once they have sent their receipt to the same shortcode and their purchase has been validated, consumers receive an SMS message confirming their sweepstakes entry.

At the end of the promotion, 3 tier logic generated a random draw to select grand prize and secondary prize winners. The secondary prizes were pre-selected groups of products from multiple retailers with different themes (e.g. Frequent Flyer, Fitness Guru, Couch Potato), while the grand prize winner received one product from each of the 15 secondary prize groups, valued at a total approximate retail value of $5,133 or below.

Using PLATFORM³, MRI was able to gain meaningful insights into consumers’ purchasing behavior in real-time. The Data Capture & Analytics module provides valuable information on users’ SMS activity throughout the duration of the promotion. MRI is able to use this data to develop informed business strategies for future promotions and increased sales.
